Summary: USDA – ARS – Stillwater is seeking quotations for a national sampling tracking system for use in ongoing research. . Specifications: The USDA ARS Partnerships for Data Innovations is looking to develop a national sampling tracking system to improve the data quality of the samples we collect by tracking the samples as they move through our systems. This type of tracking is fundamental to developing a sound sample chain of custody. This initial project will be focused providing users the ability to receive a unique identifier, enter basic sample data (e.g. sample name, description, GPS location, Facility, sample image, data and time of sample collection, sample analysis to be completed, and other metadata), generate a QR code based on the unique identifier, and ability to read a scanned QR code as the sample is handle at the various stages of the sample life. The proposed scope of this project includes: – Phase I: Design and Build Proof of Concept o Document User Stories in Github o Design wireframes of the Solution o Articulate Minimal Viable Product o Hosting Infrastructure Setup o Initial 20 users configured o Basic Authentication o Pilot Database and API development o Interfaces to third-party apps such as QR codes, camera kit, ARS printer o Mobile data entry screen for new sample records o Record lookup capability with update and delete o View of sample history and timeline – Phase II: Expand Capabilities TBD o Mockups and UI/UX Deliverables o Phase II user stories documentation o Advanced authentication integration (USDA eAuth) o Analytics Reports o Form Refinement and Validation o Automation with Notifications o Dashboard Enhancements o Third-party Apps integration o User Management and Roles definition o Additional document attachments on Admin Review Panel Using an agile methodology will encourage adaptive planning, evolutionary development, early delivery, and continuous improvement that is flexible and responsive to change.
